My Motorcycle Accident Nightmare

My motorcycle accident was horrible. A car suddenly turned left in front of the vehicle ahead of me, which slammed on its brakes. I laid down my bike at 55 MPH. Took me out completely. To complicate matters, the traffic investigating officer cited me for being at fault for speed and following too close, neither of which was true.

I was ambulanced to the hospital, where I underwent surgery on my ankle and was kept for 5 days with multiple complications. It was a nightmare. I was off work for 4.5 months and my bills were mounting. I contacted Gary Moorhead because a friend recommended him. He met me at my home and treated me like a family friend. He returned every phone call and answered every one of my questions. He fought the insurance company and got me a six- figure policy limits settlement which covered my medical bills, lost income and pain and suffering. I am very grateful that I had Gary as my lawyer.

Orange County Motorcycle Accidents

A ‘typical’ automobile accident might result in a severe neck or low back sprain. There is no such thing as a typical motorcycle accident. When a motorcyclist is involved in a collision, the injuries are usually fractures, brain injuries, severe road rash and scarring, even at relatively low speeds.

Motorcycles are afforded the same rights and protections as every other means of highway transportation in this country. Cars go 55 MPH, and so do motorcycles. ‘Smart’ cars are hard to see behind trucks, large SUVs, and larger sedans. Motorcycles are often twice as hard to see on the roadway in rear or side view mirrors. Motorcycles accelerate at a faster rate of speed than most automobiles, and decelerate slower than most vehicles with ABS brakes. Motorcycles are much more economical to operate, cause less congestion, and contribute significantly less to air pollution.

In spite of the obvious benefits of this mode of transportation, motorcyclists face a growing sense of animosity from most highway drivers, suffer significantly greater injuries than most occupants of automobile collisions, and at times have less resources to satisfy their medical costs or income loss than automobile drivers.

Pohlson & Moorhead LLP has successfully represented numerous motorcycle clients over the last 30 years, and understands and aggressively defends them against the attitudes of the adverse insurance adjusters and insurers.
