EMBEZZLEMENT (Penal Code 503)

Embezzlement is a type of theft perpetrated by an individual entrusted with money or assets. The individual usually has access to company checking or bank accounts, and the charges typically involve the theft of funds over an extended period of time.

Prior to the filing of embezzlement charges, the detectives or police investigators have often had prior access to the alleged fraudulent transactions that an employer ( and prosecutor) believes justifies the crime.
